When a man who appears mentally unstable holds a group of people hostage and dies in a shootout with the FBI, Special Agent Lucy Kincaid is assigned to investigate what happened. Up until two months ago, McMahon was a respected scientist―then his wife left him, he lost his job, and was arrested for assaulting a former colleague. The one person who might have answers ― his research assistant ― has disappeared.
While Lucy is investigating this bizarre case, her husband Sean is on top of the world his son Jesse is visiting for the summer. They are having a blast, until someone follows them. Sean is positive that the surveillance is connected to Jesse’s step-father―a man who had once laundered money for a violent drug cartel. But when Lucy and Jesse are run off the road, they begin to wonder if the attack is connected to Jesse … or Lucy’s current case.
Nothing is what it seems―not the McMahon investigation or the car accident. As Sean and Lucy dig deep into the lives of everyone involved, one thing becomes clear If they don’t find the truth fast, everyone they care about is in danger.

"WOW! Ms. Brennan has written another amazing story. I have loved all the Lucy Kincaid books, and this one had me hooked right from the beginning. Lucy is very intelligent, a great FBI agent and she and Sean are a wonderful couple with a great marriage. In this book there is a hostage situation, with Lucy part of the hostage negotiating team; Sean’s son is visiting, and Lucy and Sean had been instrumental in finding out that Jesse’s stepfather had been laundering money working for a drug cartel; and there is a drug research company with a problem they are trying to cover up. I like the FBI agents who are working with Lucy, and it is also great that Lucy’s brother Jack and Sean’s brother Kane were part of this story. Even though I like the conclusion, I wasn’t ready to be done with this book and wouldn’t have minded another hour or so reading about these “people†I have come to care about."

- For the first time I’m starting to get frustrated with AB’s books. This is the 14th Lucy book. It’s like the author is just stuck on Lucy! Don’t get me wrong, I love Lucy and Sean, but 14 books?!?! Seems like there has been so many missed opportunities. Kane should have got his own book. I missed the days when this author wrote books that had a new H & h and a new sl in each book.
Lucy books have become repetitive. All the days run together. Lucy gets up at the crack of dawn. Works all day, comes home after dark, and starts all over again. The details of her day is uninteresting because it all just blends together. Too many characters. Too many details. The sl gets bogged down because of this.
AB has been my favorite author for years but I’m not sure if I’ll read the next Lucy book. - It's hard to believe that this is the 14th Lucy Kincaid book, especially if you've read all the books that came before leading up to this series. Over 30 books and still just as fresh as always. The characters all continue to evolve and surprise. Lucy and Sean are the perfect match for each other and Kane and Jack are a dynamic duo. Bandit too.
The stories are always so well-written and I know the author does extensive research into the subjects which I really appreciate. Everything reads true and accurate - I think Ms. Brennan's mind must be like a library by now on all subjects. The novel was suspenseful, emotional and I couldn't put it down, no matter how much I wanted it to last.
Already looking forward to #15 - As a big fan of Lucy and Sean Kincaid, this book met all my expectations as one of the best FBI series out there. Bringing Sean's son into the storyline of Lucy and Sean was brilliant and a great addition. I look forward to learning what is in store next for Jesse as his story enfolds. This two stories going at one time is a concept I enjoy. Lucy and her people are always entertaining and I love how they all come together and react to each other. Can't wait for the next book!!!
- This is the latest book in a series featuring Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan however it can be read out of sequence. As usually there are several story lines in the narration. In this book a
Sean is enjoying a summer break with his newly discovered son Jesse, while Lucy is investigating a hostage situation ending in the death of the hostage taker. I eagerly await each new book, the characters are likable and relatable and Allison Brennan brings them to life beautifully. - This one you cannot put down!! Make sure that you have taken your high blood pressure medicine when you read this because you will need it. The two concurrent stories are both geared to keep you on the edge of your seat! All I can say is if I was ever in a bad place and needed to help, Lucy and her family would be the first people I would call!
- Rather I give it 3 review stars, not very good and not so bad because I like to follow the path of Lucy's life. However, in recent books Lucy has not been presented as the heroine she should be, without passing as a "drama queen" in need of rescue all the time. Why do not we read more about details about her cases without the need to include as many secondary characters as main characters, redundancies and sometimes with similar names?
In my opinion, if Allison wants to start a book about Lucy's husband or his brothers very well. Now, we must admit that there is a saturation of books about brave men, agents, computer experts (hackers), renegades and "very macho" in the market to read. Not much of a heroine recovered from personal trauma and becoming an FBI agent. This is the reason why I keep reading the novels about Lucy. And I've seen myself without much enthusiasm reading the latest books.
In Too Far Gone I skipped the chapters dedicated to the "drama King" hacker (it seems written in collaboration) since I was not interested because I can read about rescue in other novels. I finished it fast, but it left a bad taste because I wanted to read more. Short novel, I do not think it's worth it. It's fantastic to present a husband who supports and is very dedicated, another is to announce books about Lucy and she is not the main character. I think there is a lot of thread to cut in events about FBI cases that can be introduced in these Lucy novels. - I agree with Fallen3's review. I hesitated about the purchase because I was aware that I had "Lucy Fatigue" but after perusing other reviews i made the purchase. The storyline is tedious and there is a great deal of repetitious dialogue in the story.
