JACK NICKLAUS' PLAYING LESSONS Jack Ken Bowden Nicklaus 9780330269230 Books Reviews

  • Great book,thanks
  • This is one of those non-technical books that needs to be deeply absorbed. The first six chapters alone make it worthwhile. He fills it with insights that can help improve both your ability to play AND your understanding and enjoyment of the game. He makes a lot of candid statements about himself and also about the game he clearly loves. In fact, the more I read the book, the more I appreciate golf on its many different levels. Truly a wonderful educational and inspirational book. Here is a short excerpt from the greatest golfer of all time

"Day in, day out, I'm a better strategist and tactician than I am a shot maker. As a result it's often been said that I have had the ability to win when playing poorly. That is actually not quite the truth. The truth is that I have won many times when I have been striking the ball comparatively poorly, but I have never won - not even when striking at my best - when I have been managing myself or my game poorly. It's these mental factors, I believe, that finally determine a person's level of success at golf, whether you measure it by winning major championships or breaking 90."

And with regards to "Major Championships", I think Jack will remain perched at the top for a long, long time.
