  • I would like to give this book a five-star rating because of the reasons below. The first reason is, that on your dedication page you said your parents would, “Attempt all the ways to get me [you] to try new foods,” which shows you were just like Addy the ant. Except you were not an ant! I liked this because you took your own story and turned it into a narrative. Another reason is that this story is realistic and could actually happen. This helps adults and children who don’t like many foods because you take a story and use realistic examples that have happened in real life. Finally, I like how all the illustrations match what is happening in the plot of the story. It is entertaining to have illustrations which match the writing because it makes the story more clear. In conclusion, this story is just right for kindergarten, first and second graders. Since I am in fourth grade, it was a little below my reading level, but it was still a very brilliant read.
  • Great book with an amazing message to empower children (and adults) in finding their own path to try new things outside of their comfort zone. Not to mention the illustrations are adorable.
  • This book!! I had the most honest review from a group of Kinders on Friday. I read it to them during their library visit and they were rooting for Addy from the very first page. At the end (spoiler alert!) when Addy 'fits in' these little Kinders cheered and hugged each other ! It was heart-warming!! I can't recommend this book enough - even if you don't have a picky eater. The illustrations are perfection - check out the little ladybug on each page. So much expression! LOVED IT!
  • As someone who has worked with children in many capacities, including teaching preschool, I have seen first hand the struggle to try and get kids to eat their vegetables, to try new foods, and to expand their palettes. Jacky's book offers a loving and humbling solution, to let children lead the way. Her book is a beautiful reminder that often giving space, time, love and a non-judgmental/pressure-free environment will yield the desired results. This book is written in a way that children will easily understand and relate to Addy, while granting adults and parents peace and perspective. The illustrations are colorful, vibrant, and will easily engage young children. I highly recommend this book!
  • This book has such an amazing message for adults and children who are picky eaters. Mealtimes really don’t need to be scary if you can find a way to eliminate the stress and pressure that some people experience when trying new foods. Jacky Lamenzo gives a hopeful voice to those people who have suffered from these anxieties and felt they were alone. Most importantly, Addy’s story and the illustrations by Eddie Martinez are ridiculously adorable and perfect for any child whether they’re a picky eater or not.
  • This book is amazing! I bought it for my nieces and nephews because some of them deal with picky eating. I love that it lets them know that it’s okay to not like something. But I also like how it can help parents realize what pressure they put on kids by taking pictures and bribing them. The illustrations are the cutest and my niece loves them!!
  • The sweet, sweet story of Addy the ant and her struggle to fit in with her own family is the most relatable children’s book I’ve read in a while. A voice for picky eaters that grants both validation and encouragement, Addy Wants to Fit In is the perfect gift for any parent who is struggling with a child who “won’t eat their veggies”. Not to mention, it’s filled with the CUTEST illustrations to boot!!
  • This is such a beautifully crafted tool to help parents navigate a loving and kind way to help children who are picky eaters. It is so intentionally thought out, and the ADORABLE hand drawn illustration is just the cherry on top! Highly recommended!
